Purpose
The Author presents a new way to extend the depth of focus, called '' optic by dilution " OBD
OBD doesn't use a myopic target to get the near vision
OBD is based on the conservation of the luminous flux
Setting
For distant vision only the direct light rays run to create the PSF (point spread function ) and some amount of SA (spherical aberrations ) depending on corneal's Q value .For near vision, the divergent light rays produce the cercle of confusion COC
the OBD hyper diverge the divergent light rays in order to make them undetectable on the retina, therefore the image builded is only based on direct rays as well as for distant and near vision
Methods
Firstly the Author demontrates that the vectorial spaces of in one hand the direct rays and in the other hand the divergents , are totally separated due to the Fraunhofer law in concern the wavefront
-Secondly the Author shows that, in fact, the COC in not a cercle, but it's a ring , ring of confusion ROC then the conservation of the Flux = Intensity * Surface can be applied on it in using OBD
Finally the Author demonstrates that the basal intensity of the ROC is close to 55% of the PSF intensity
In conclusion : OBD increases the surface of the ROC , below the Rayleigh threshold detection, without impact the PSF of the direct rays, and the ROC becomes undetectable.
Results
We apply the principle of the OBD or presbyopic patients, in using PRESBYLASIK technique
The controlled amount of Q value target act as a negative addition for near vision
We expose the results of 120 eyes of 60 patients at day 1 , 1 month and one year follow up as well as for near and distant vision. Monocular and binocular results are better than ever get before , cause there is no myopic target , each eye can achieve 20/20 J1
Conclusions
The author demonstrate theorically and clinically that the way of OBD can give presbyopic patients a natural, powerful and symetrical view in the both eyes, as younger patients can get. furthur studies will be necessary to confirm these preliminary results
