Purpose

To statistically analyze the clinical data of intraocular lens replacement after posterior chamber intraocular lens (ICL) implantation, and to analyze the causes of intraocular lens replacement surgery and the therapeutic effect after the replacement.

Setting

After the implantation of posterior chamber intraocular lenses (ICL) with lenses, there may be a need for intraocular lens replacement. This not only affects the recovery of the patient's vision but also increases the surgical risk and the economic burden on the patient. Therefore, an analysis of the causes of intraocular lens replacement after ICL surgery and the changes in related parameters is of great significance for improving the success rate of the surgery and patient satisfaction

Methods

A retrospective analysis was conducted on 45 cases (55 eyes) of intraocular lens replacement surgery admitted to our hospital from 2023 to 2024. The preoperative clinical characteristics, surgical indications, intraocular lens models and positions, and postoperative therapeutic effects of the patients were statistically analyzed.

Results

All patients were divided into 3 groups according to the reasons for intraocular lens replacement. There were 26 cases (34 eyes) in the high arch height group, 14 cases (16 eyes) in the low arch height group, and 5 cases (5 eyes) in the intraocular lens rotation group. After the replacement surgery, the arch heights of the high-arch height group and the low-arch height group were significantly improved. The vision of the intraocular lens rotation group was significantly improved, and no serious complications occurred.

Conclusions

Abnormal arch height and intraocular lens rotation after posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation are the main causes of intraocular lens replacement. Intraocular lens replacement can effectively manage the related complications after posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation.
