Purpose

To evaluate early safety, refractive precision, vault characteristics, and intraocular pressure (IOP) profile following Eyecryl Phakic and Eyecryl Phakic Toric IOL implantation.

Setting

Vista Eye Clinic, Malaysia.

Methods

Prospective case series of 34 eyes undergoing Eyecryl Phakic and Eyecryl Phakic Toric IOL implantation for myopia and myopic astigmatism. Preoperative and 1-month assessments included spherical equivalent (SE), UCVA, CDVA, vault, and IOP. Refractive precision was assessed using mean absolute error (MAE) and proportions within ±0.50 D and ±1.00 D of intended correction.

Results

Mean preoperative SE was −5.93 ± 2.70 D. At 1 month, mean SE was −0.27 ± 0.36 D.

88.2% of eyes were within ±0.50 D and 94.1% within ±1.00 D of intended refraction.

UCVA of 6/6 or better was achieved in 81.8% of eyes. Safety index was 1.00 with no loss of ≥1 line CDVA; efficacy index was 0.98.

Mean vault was 566.6 ± 182.6 µm (range 200–826 µm), predominantly within the accepted 250–750 µm range.

Mean IOP at 1 month was 17.36 ± 4.71 mmHg, remaining clinically stable without pressure-related complications.

Conclusions

Eyecryl Phakic and Eyecryl Phakic Toric IOL implantation demonstrated robust refractive accuracy, stable visual outcomes, and favorable vault characteristics at 1 month. Intraocular pressure remained clinically stable without need for secondary intervention, supporting the favorable early safety and predictability profile of this posterior chamber phakic IOL platform.
