Purpose
To evaluate the predictability of the vault as well as the accuracy of the manufacturer's calculator for preoperative vault estimation after 6 months follow up Eyecryl phakic lens implantation.
Setting
All surgeries, consultations, and follow-ups, have been performed at Instituto Clínico Quirúrgico de Oftalomología (ICQO), Bilbao, Spain.
Methods
Retrospective study including 91 eyes with Eyecryl Phakic implantation at least 6 months follow up post operative were analyzed. Patients with significant corneal or retinal pathology, glaucoma, or uveitis were excluded. A posterior chamber Eyecryl phakic lens was implanted following a standardized surgical protocol. Mean absolute error (MAE) was calculated as difference between vault prediction by BIOTECH calculator and obtained vault measured with Anterion OCT. Descriptive and comparative analyses were performed, considering statistical significance p<0.05.
Results
Regarding vault predictability, the results showed 50% of eyes had a vault value within100 μm MAE, 75% of eyes had a vault value within 200 μm MAE and 97% within 300 μm. No relevant complications or significant changes in endothelial cell count were observed.
Conclusions
Vault prediction using BIOTECH calculator entering Anterion measurements provides good results minimizing possibility of rotation/explant. Results are comparable to other machine learning and UBM Based formulas.
