Purpose

To quantify early temporal refractive bias and evaluate vault safety-window distribution following Eyecryl Phakic IOL implantation.

Setting

Single-center prospective clinical series.

Methods

Consecutive eyes undergoing Eyecryl Phakic IOL implantation were analyzed. Expected postoperative spherical equivalent (SE) was derived from the manufacturer’s calculator. Achieved SE was measured at 1 week and 1 month. Prediction error (PE = achieved − expected), mean absolute error (MAE), standard deviation (SD), and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated. Agreement was assessed using Bland–Altman analysis. Temporal refractive change between visits was evaluated. Vault was measured at 1 month and analyzed relative to the accepted safety range (250–750 µm).

Results

Twenty eyes had complete refractive data.

At 1 week, mean PE was −0.28 ± 0.25 D (95% CI −0.39 to −0.17), MAE 0.32 D, with 85% within ±0.50 D of expected SE.

At 1 month, mean PE improved to −0.17 ± 0.41 D (95% CI −0.35 to +0.01), MAE 0.36 D, with 70% within ±0.50 D. A mean hyperopic shift of +0.11 D was observed between visits, indicating partial reduction of early myopic bias. Bland–Altman analysis demonstrated narrow limits of agreement without proportional bias.

Vault at 1 month (n=21) measured 568.8 ± 174.1 µm (95% CI 494–643 µm); 81% of eyes were within 250–750 µm, with no low-vault cases observed.

Conclusions

Eyecryl Phakic IOL implantation demonstrated strong early refractive agreement with progressive reduction of initial myopic bias and predominantly optimal vault distribution. Temporal bias analysis provides a clinically meaningful framework for early postoperative evaluation of emerging posterior chamber pIOL platforms.
