Purpose
To evaluate safety, efficacy, refractive predictability, and vault outcomes of Eyecryl Phakic IOL implantation in Thai eyes with moderate to high myopia.
Setting
Surat Eye Hospital, Suratthani, Thailand.
Methods
Prospective interventional case series of 20 eyes (10 patients) undergoing Eyecryl Phakic IOL implantation. Preoperative mean spherical error was −11.20 ± 3.66 D (range −19.00 to −3.00 D) with mean cylinder −1.71 ± 1.41 D. Mean preoperative IOP was 14.79 mmHg; mean central corneal thickness was 508.7 µm. Postoperative evaluation included uncorrected (UCVA) and corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), refractive stability, IOP monitoring, vault measurement, and complication assessment.
Results
All surgeries were uneventful. Significant refractive reduction was achieved across a wide myopic range. Mean postoperative UCVA was 0.72 (decimal), with 57% achieving ≥20/20. Mean CDVA was 0.91, with 84% achieving ≥20/20. No eye lost lines of CDVA. Mean postoperative vault was 550 ± 180 µm (range 289–986 µm), within acceptable safety limits. No cataract formation, sustained IOP elevation, endothelial compromise, or clinically significant vault-related complications were observed.
Conclusions
Eyecryl Phakic IOL demonstrated excellent visual outcomes, predictable vault positioning, and a strong safety profile in Thai eyes with high myopia, supporting its reliability in Southeast Asian populations.
