Purpose
To report the refractive and visual outcomes of refractive lenticule extraction in the first series of eyes treated at OCL
Vision with SmartSight Nova ® (SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions, Kleinostheim, Germany) for the correction of myopia with astigmatism.
Setting
Private practice , OCL Vision, London, UK
Methods
This was a retrospective analysis of the first consecutive patients treated with SmartSight Nova lenticule extraction between
December 2025 and June 2026 at OCL Vision. Patients older than 18 years, with astigmatism up to -4.00 D and myopia up to -9.50 D
were treated with a refractive target after nomogram adjument of emmetropia. Follow-up was at 1-day, 1-2 weeks, and 3-months after surgery. Uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) and best-corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), and subjective refraction were measured. Intraoperative and postoperative complications were recorded.
Results
76 eyes (N=76) of 38 patients were included. Mean age was 31.8 ± 5.7 years; mean preoperative spherical equivalent (SEQ) was -6.13 ± 1.56 D. Mean UDVA was 0.13 ± 0.18 logMAR at Day-1, and -0.04 ± 0.17 logMAR at Month-3. There was no loss of CDVA. Mean SEQ at Month-3 was 0.00 ± 0.45 D, 94% of eyes were within ±1D of refractive target. There were no intra-operative complications, or post-operative complications.
Conclusions
SmartSight Nova was a safe and effective refractive procedure in this first series of eyes treated.
