Purpose

To compare corneal higher order aberrations post Femtosecond Laser Assisted Contoura versus Femtosecond Laser assisted Wavelight Plus LASIK

Setting

Private tertiary eye hospital, Thane, India

Methods

It’s a Prospective study where patients who underwent refractive correction using uneventful femtosecond laser assisted Wavelight Plus InnovEyes (FWPI) LASIK and femtosecond laser assisted contoura LASIK (FC) were included. Subjects with other refractive surgeries, surgical complications. Surgeries performed by single surgeon were considered.  Corneal HOA were obtained for 4mm pupil size using sightmap pre and post surgery at 2 weeks and compared using two sample t test.

Results

20 and 12 eyes had undergone refractive correction using FWPI and FC Lasik technique. The mean±SD age was 27.5±4.90 and 26.75±4.76 in FWPI and FC groups respectively. The pre surgical ocular parameters and HOA were matched in both groups (two sample t test, p>0.05). Post operative HOA were found to be comparable in both the techniques.

Conclusions

The corneal HOAs are found to be comparable between FWPI and FC LASIK at short term post operative follow up however long term follow ups could provide more insight about optical image quality metric.
