Purpose
To compare 1-month visual outcomes and optical quality after Ray-tracing-guided FS-LASIK and Implantable Collamer Lens V4c(ICL V4c) (STAAR Surgical Company) implantation for low-moderate myopia.
Setting
Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital
Methods
his was a prospective randomized study. Overall, 60 eyes of 30 patients with low-moderate myopia were enrolled, comprising 28 and 32 eyes in the ray-tracing groups and ICL group, respectively. Uncorrected distance visual acuity, corrected distance visual acuity, subjective manifest refraction, and optical visual quality like spherical abberation, coma, trefoil.etc in 4mm pupil and 7mm pupil were examined before and 1 months after surgery.
Results
At a pupil diameter of 4 mm, the differences in HOAs, trefoil , spherical aberration, and their changes between the two groups were statistically significant ( P<0.05). However, there were no statistically significant differences in coma between the two groups ( P>0.05).At a pupil diameter of 7 mm, there were statistically significant differences in HOAs and their change values between the two groups ( P<0.05).At 4 mm pupil diameter, there was no statistically significant difference in SR and MTF (AR) between the two groups (P>0.05). At 7 mm pupil diameter, statistically significant differences were observed in SR and MTF (AR) between the two groups at 1 month postoperatively (Z=-2.99, P=0.003; Z=-3.15, P=0.002).
Conclusions
Both ray-tracing-guided FS-LASIK and ICL implantation showed satisfactory efficacy and safety in correcting low-moderate myopia, whereas ray-tracing guided FS-LASIK seems induced fewer HOAs, leading to better postoperative optical visual quality at 1month post-ops.
