Purpose
To analyze the performance of different syringes types to deliver DMEK graft to the anterior chamber using a glass pipette.
Setting
Private Practice
Methods
One regular syringe and two models of "low-resistance" syringes were tested using a digital dynamometer to access the force required to compress the plunger to deliver the DMEK graft into the anterior chamber.
Results
There was a statistically significant reduction of the force required to compress the plunger of the two "low-resistance" syringes compared to the regular model. Both models allowed for a more controllable graft injection into the anterior chamber.
Conclusions
"Low-resistance" syringes require lower forces to compress the plunger and allows for a more controllable DMEK graft deliver into the anterior chamber.
