Purpose

To evaluate visual performance and patient-reported satisfaction following implantation of the Lucidis extended depth of focus (EDOF) toric intraocular lens in routine cataract surgery.

Setting

Consultant-led cataract practice, tertiary ophthalmic center, United Arab Emirates.

Methods

A prospective observational series of consecutive patients undergoing phacoemulsification with Lucidis EDOF toric IOL implantation. Postoperative assessments included uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), intermediate visual acuity (UIVA), near visual acuity (UNVA), residual astigmatism, and patient-reported spectacle independence at 1 and 3 months.

Results

A high percentage of patients achieved UDVA of 20/25 or better. Functional intermediate and near vision were achieved without additional correction in the majority of cases. Residual astigmatism was ≤0.50 D in most patients. Patient-reported satisfaction was high, particularly regarding reduced dependence on reading glasses. Dysphotopsia complaints were minimal and transient.

Conclusions

Lucidis EDOF toric IOL provides excellent functional vision across distance and intermediate ranges with high patient satisfaction and minimal photic phenomena. It represents a reliable premium IOL option for patients seeking spectacle independence.
