Purpose
To evaluate the optical, function results and satisfaction of patient after implantation of asymmetric variofocal and asymmetric toric IOL as presbyopia solution in patients after previous excimer laser surgery
Setting
Cham - Germany
Methods
All included patients underwent previous excimer laser surgery reached presbyopia age and wished to be glasses independent during reading and near distance activities.
In a retrospective study we included 19 eyes of patients 14 patients. In 4 patient were implanted bilaterally Acunex Variomax, 10 LENTIS® Mplus X toric in monolateraly. The astigmatisms of the first group was 0-0,75, of the second group 2,0 D -3,75 D The sphere +0,75- -3,5, second group 2,0 D -3,75 D The mean age was 51,58 years.
The follow up was six months
Results
For the first group, the distance vision was 0,9, intermediate was 0,7 and near vision was 0.88. In the second group, distance vision was 0.84, intermediate was 0.74 and near vision was 0.86. We were able to end up in the range of ±0.75 D in 80% of the eyes and within 1 D in 100% of the eyes. The mean refraction was 0.5 D, All patients were satisfied, and 60% were very satisfied. All of them were able to perform daily tasks without glasses like cooking, handicraft work, watching TV and driving the car. One hundred percent were able to read the newspaper and 85% were able to read books with small print without glasses and 100% drive the car as well in the night without glasses.
Conclusions
After the previous refractive cornea procedure the implantation of assymetric MFIOLs Acunex variomax and Mplus X toric in our study succesful corrected the distance vision, intermediate and near.
Therefore was the satisfaction very high and met the expectations of the patients
