Purpose
To compare refractive and visual outcomes as well as dysphotopsia profiles and patient satisfaction between the original Clareon Panoptix multifocal IOL and the new Panoptix Pro updated model.
Setting
Single surgeon operating at a private clinic in Adelaide, Australia.
Methods
Retrospective Cohort design looking at two groups of patients implanted with the two lens options. All patients followed up for at least one month. Visual and refractive outcomes measured, along with patient questionnaire data on satisfaction and visual side effects.
Results
Similar refractive accuracy and visual outcomes attained with both IOLs. Dysphotopsia symptoms were significantly reduced with the Panoptix Pro design compared to the original Panoptix IOL.
Conclusions
The new Panoptix Pro IOL has retained the visual and refractive accuracy of the original Panoptix design but now provides reduced visual side effects. This will enlarge the group of potential patients who may benefit from this technology.
