Purpose
The enVista ENVY (EN) intraocular lens (IOL) is a full visual range (FVR) IOL that delivers up to 4 D of continuous visual range, with enhanced tolerance to dysphotopsias. This retrospective case series study aimed to evaluate real-world visual and safety outcomes of the EN IOL in patients undergoing cataract surgery.
Setting
This multicentre, cross‑sectional, retrospective case series included data from 14 ophthalmologists in the USA and Canada between 5 June 2024 and 3 September 2025.
Methods
Ophthalmologists completed a retrospective user-experience survey and provided a deidentified retrospective convenience sample of on-label EN IOL cases using a standardised case report form. Key outcome measures included monocular and binocular vision outcomes (uncorrected distance visual acuity [UDVA], corrected distance visual acuity [CDVA], uncorrected intermediate visual acuity [UIVA], uncorrected near visual acuity [UNVA]) and mean refractive spherical equivalent (MRSE). Safety outcomes were also recorded.
Results
A total of 119 patients (166 eyes) were included in this sub-analysis. Mean±standard deviation (SD) age was 63±9 years; 62% of patients were female. EN IOL implantation was unilateral and bilateral in 72 and 94 eyes, respectively. Mean±SD spherical equivalent target was −0.09±0.15 (n=150). Monocular CDVA of 20/25 or better was achieved in 99% of eyes (141/142); UDVA of 20/32 or better in 93% of eyes (148/160); UIVA of 20/32 or better in 97% of eyes (83/86); and UNVA of J2 or better in 79% of eyes (110/140). Binocular CDVA of 20/25 or better was achieved in 100% of patients (44/44). Mean±SD MRSE was −0.12±0.39 (n=140). Only 2.1% of patients reported dysphotopsias; no serious adverse events or glistening were reported.
Conclusions
The results from this sub-analysis indicate that the EN FVR IOL provided excellent visual outcomes for patients undergoing cataract surgery, with most patients achieving good distance, intermediate, and near vision outcomes. No serious adverse events or glistenings were reported.
