Purpose

To compare visual and subjective outcomes following implantation of TECNIS Eyhance, Bausch + Lomb enVista monofocal, and AcrySof IQ intraocular lenses (IOLs) in routine cataract surgery

Setting

OPSIS OPHTHALMOLOGY INSTITUTE

Methods

Prospective comparative study including 110 eyes undergoing uneventful phacoemulsification. Eyes were allocated into three groups: Eyhance (n=38), enVista (n=36), and AcrySof IQ (n=36). Primary outcomes included uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA), and manifest refraction spherical equivalent (MRSE). Secondary outcomes included glare, halos, and dry eye symptoms. Outcomes were assessed at 3 months postoperatively. ANOVA and chi-square tests were used for analysis.

Results

UDVA and CDVA were comparable among groups (p>0.05). Mean UDVA (logMAR) was 0.05±0.07 (Eyhance), 0.07±0.08 (enVista), and 0.08±0.09 (AcrySof IQ). UNVA was significantly better in the Eyhance group (0.28±0.09 logMAR) compared with enVista (0.38±0.10) and AcrySof IQ (0.41±0.11) (p<0.01). MRSE was similar across groups. Incidence of glare, halos, and dry eye symptoms did not differ significantly.

Conclusions

TECNIS Eyhance provides improved near functional performance while maintaining equivalent distance acuity and refractive predictability compared to conventional monofocal IOLs.
