Purpose

The enVista Aspire™ (EA) and EA toric (ETA) enhanced monofocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) are indicated for primary implantation in the capsular bag of the eye in adult patients (pts) following cataractous lens extraction. In comparison to conventional monofocal IOLs, the EA and ETA IOLs utilize higher-order aspheric coefficients on their posterior surface to offer a broad depth of focus and visual range. This retrospective, single surgeon case series aimed to evaluate visual outcomes in patients implanted with the EA or ETA following cataract extraction.

Setting

This case series includes the experience of a single surgeon implanting the EA and ETA in patients following cataractous lens extraction from 1 October, 2024 to 19 November, 2025.

Methods

Clinical outcomes included monocular corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (UIVA), uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA), and refractive outcomes.

Results

This analysis includes 20 eyes (OD, 10; OS, 10) of 10 pts implanted with EA and 40 eyes (OD, 20; OS, 20) of 20 pts implanted with ETA. At baseline, mean±standard deviation (SD) spherical equivalent (SEQ) target was 0.04±0.24 D and −0.05±0.24 D for EA and ETA, respectively. Mean±SD delta K was 0.81±0.76 D for EA and 0.94±0.59 D for ETA. At follow-up, for EA and ETA, respectively, mean±SD SEQ outcome was 0.03±0.47 D and −0.08±0.33 D; mean±SD residual refractive cylinder was 0.84±0.76 D and 0.40±0.18 D. For EA and ETA, respectively, 80% and 85% of eyes achieved a CDVA of ≤20/20, 80% and 87.5% achieved a UDVA of ≤20/32, 90% and 87.5% achieved a UIVA of ≤20/32, and 50% and 70% achieved a UNVA of ≤J3.

Conclusions

The findings of this case series demonstrate that the EA and ETA IOLs provide strong distance and functional intermediate and near visual outcomes, with an acceptable residual refractive error, in patients following cataract extraction, underscoring their utility in real world clinical settings.‑world clinical settings.
