Purpose
The success of toric lens is judged by the ability to reduce refractive astigmatism but also by the ability to maintain a stable position.
Aim of this study is to assess the rotational stability and efficacy astigmatism correction of a new toric IOL, NexLoad NP Toric (NP‑T), by evaluating the difference in lens position between the follow-up visits.
Setting
Vienna Institute for Research in Ocular Surgery, Hanusch Hospital, Vienna, Austria
Methods
This is a prospective, monocentric study that includes patients scheduled for cataract surgery, with regular corneal astigmatism over 1 Diopters. Only one eye per patient was included in the study. The patients received NexLoad NP Toric (NP‑T) IOL, NIDEK CO., LTD. The fellow eye recieved the same type of IOL. Patients without any ocular or systemic comorbidities, that would influence the visual outcome and lens stability, were included in the study.
The rotational stability was checked immediately after the operation with retroillumination photography and at 1 week and 3 months after surgery. The follow-up examination also included uncorrected and best corrected visual acuity, autorefraction and slit-lamp examinations.
Results
The main outcome was the mean axis rotation, the difference between the axis after surgery and one week, and 3 months respectively.
Conclusions
The final analysis will be presented at the 44th ESCRS Conference.
