Purpose
Setting
This retrospective multicentre study was conducted at OCL vision in London, United Kingdom.
Methods
Retrospective multi-surgeon analysis of 106 eyes (73 patients) undergoing phacoemulsification or refractive lens exchange with implantation of the Serenity IROF. Monocular and binocular uncorrected distance and near visual acuity and deviation from planned post-operative refraction (PPOR) were assessed.
Results
Mean age was 70.8 years (range 41–91). Monocular UDVA of ≤0.10 logMAR (6/7.5) was achieved in 72%, improving to 95% binocularly (+23 percentage points). Mean binocular UDVA was 0.001 logMAR (6/6). Monocular UNVA of N5 or better was achieved in 28%, rising to 53% binocularly (+23 percentage points). In 73 eyes with complete refractive data, mean deviation from PPOR was −0.05D (SD 0.47D); 83.6% within ±0.50D and 95.9% within ±1.00D of target. More myopic SE was associated with worse distance VA (r = −0.50, p < 0.001) and better near VA (r = 0.41, p < 0.001), consistent with the vergence advantage of residual myopia supplementing the IROF optical mechanism.
