Purpose
To present surgical results of explanting and re-implanting IOL in presence of pre-existing Iris Implant
Setting
MVZ Ostbayern
Methods
Temporal conjuntival incision followed by 5mm-scleral incision temporally. The decentrated IC-8™ IOL (Bausch&Lomb) was removed through the scleral incision and anterior vitrectomy was performed. A new 3-piece IOL (Kowa Japan) was inserted and sclerally fixed using pflanged haptic technique. All incisions were closed successfully
Results
Post operatively IOL centration was excellent and no dislocation of the pflanged haptics were notices. Anterior chamber was deep and the pre-implanted Humanoptix Iris impant did not suffer any damage or decentration. Surgey was uneventful
Conclusions
Operating through a scleral temporal incision could help in preserving the alreay implanted Humanoptix Iris implant without the need to explant and re implant it, making the surgery shorter and safer
