Purpose
The aim of this study is to compare Corvis ST parameters CBI /TBI and cCBI/cTBI obtained in the same Chinese population of normal myopic young adults who underwent laser vision correction.
Setting
Retrospective single center study.
Methods
Myopic Chinese adults who underwent laser vision correction with normal preoperative Pentacam tomography and Corvis ST parameters were included. The tomographical and biomechanical parameters were analysed and CBI/TBI indices obtained with the global database and cCBI/cTBI indices obtained with the East Asian database were compared.
Results
117 right eyes of 117 Chinese myopic patients were included. Their myopia ranges from -1.25D to -11.0D(spherical equivalent). Mean age of the patients was 29.5 years. The mean CBI/cCBI indices was 0.43 and 0.21 respectively (p=0.00). The mean TBI/cTBI indices was 0.21 and 0.11 respectively (p=0.00).
Conclusions
The new cCBI and cTBI indices for Chinese patients were significantly lower than CBI and TBI indices calculated for the same population. These new indices may be more appropriate for a Chinese population in preoperative assessment for laser vision correction.
