Purpose
To report the refractive and visual outcomes of PRESBYOND Laser Blended Vision in a large population of hyperopic presbyopes.
Setting
Private Practice Academic Unit Reinstein Vision, London Vision Clinic, EuroEyes Group, UK
Methods
Inclusion: hyperopic manifest refraction, preop CDVA ≥20/20 both eyes, suitable for LASIK. Consecutive PRESBYOND treatments with MEL 80/90 excimer and VisuMax femtosecond (Carl Zeiss Meditec) Dec 2012-Aug 2023. Targets: plano distance eye; -0.50 to -1.75 D near eye as per the PRESBYOND +1.50 D Acceptance Test. Outcomes analysed at 12 months or last visit if earlier retreatment; those without 12-month data excluded as lost to follow-up.
Results
1703 patients (3309 eyes). Mean age 56±6 (41-81). Mean attempted SEQ +1.83±1.01 D (0.00 to +5.75); mean cylinder -0.55±0.40 D (0.00 to -4.50). Preop CDVA ≥20/20 in 100%. With 9.7% enhancement rate, binocular UDVA ≥20/20 in 94% and ≥20/25 in 99%; UNVA J2 or better in 92% and J5 or better in 99%. Postop SEQ vs target 0.00±0.45 D (-2.00 to +2.63), within ±0.50 D in 87% and ±1.00 D in 98%. One-line CDVA loss in 19%, two-line loss in 0.36%. Contrast sensitivity improved at 3, 6, 12 and 18 cpd.
Conclusions
PRESBYOND Laser Blended Vision LASIK provided excellent binocular distance and near vision in hyperopic presbyopes. Safety was demonstrated by maintained CDVA and improved contrast sensitivity.
