Purpose
To describe a case (with images) of corneal melt secondary to Dupilumab therapy and provide a brief literature review of Dupilumab associated ocular surface disease.
Setting
Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin, Ireland
Report of case
A 63-year-old man was started on Dupilumab treatment for atopic dermatitis. He presented to our eye casualty a number of months after treatment with severe bilateral ocular surface disease and an area of corneal melt in the left eye. Dupilumab treatment was stopped immediately, and he was managed with intensive lubrication and topical cyclosporine. The area of melt resolved, and he was ultimately switched to an alternative agent for the management of his dermatitis.
Conclusion / Take home message
Dupilumab is a known risk factor for blepharitis and ocular surface disease. Here we present one case of corneal melt secondary to Dupilumab with slit lamp images attached. Few cases of corneal melt secondary to Dupilumab have been reported in the literature.
