Purpose
To report multicentric real-world quality of visual outcomes of the TECNIS PureSee IOL, a purely refractive Partial Depth of Field (DOFi) Extended IOL PCIOL.
Setting
Data from 17 investigational sites (10 in Europe and 7 in Asia-Pacific).
Methods
This is an ongoing, multicenter, observational, single-arm, single-visit study in patients bilaterally implanted with the TECNIS PureSee EDOF IOL. Data was collected 3 months after the surgery. Postoperative manifest refraction spherical equivalent (MRSE), monocular and binocular uncorrected (UCDVA) and best-corrected (BCDVA) distance visual acuity, binocular uncorrected intermediate (UCIVA) and near (UCNVA) visual acuity, dysphotopsia rates, and patient satisfaction are reported.
Results
Data for 238 subjects from 17 sites were available at the time of abstract submission. Mean MRSE was +0.01 D ± 0.39 D. Mean logMAR BCDVA was -0.03 ± 0.07 monocularly and -0.05 ± 0.09 binocularly. Mean logMAR UCDVA was 0.04 ± 0.10 monocularly and -0.02 ± 0.09 binocularly. Mean UCDVA of 0.1 logMAR or better was achieved by 95% of patients, 89% achieved at least 0.2 logMar UCIVA and 74% achieved at least 0.3 logMAR UCNVA binocularly. Most of the patients reported that they did not experience or were “not at all” or “a little” bothered by glare (92%), halos (93%) and starbursts (94%); 96% of subjects needed distance correction none or a little of the time, and 96% were “completely” or “mostly” satisfied with their distance vision without glasses. And 96% of subjects would recommend the lens to their family and friends.
Conclusion
The real-world data for the TECNIS PureSee Partial DOFi Extended IOL demonstrates high quality of vision, with excellent and highly satisfactory distance vision, functional near vision and low rates of photic phenomena comparable to what has been published for monofocal IOLs. Final data of the study will be presented at the time of the conference
