Purpose

To report multicentric real-world quality of visual outcomes of the TECNIS PureSee IOL, a purely refractive Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) PCIOL

Setting

Data from up to 20 investigational sites (10 in Europe and 10 in Asia-Pacific)

Methods

This is an ongoing, multicentre, observational, single-arm, single-visit study in patients bilaterally implanted with the TECNIS PureSee EDOF IOL. Data were collected 3 months after the surgery. Postoperative manifest refraction spherical equivalent (MRSE), monocular and binocular uncorrected (UCDVA) and best-corrected (BCDVA) distance visual acuity, dysphotopsias rates, and patient satisfaction are reported

Results

Data for 95 subjects from 9 sites were available at the time of abstract submission. Mean MRSE was 0.10 ± 0.41 D. Mean logMAR BCDVA was -0.04 ± 0.08 monocularly and -0.09 ± 0.08 binocularly. Mean logMAR UCDVA was 0.02 ± 0.10 monocularly and -0.06 ± 0.08 binocularly. 97.9% achieved at least 0.1 logMAR mean UCDVA binocularly. Most of the patients reported that they did not experience or were “not at all” or “a little” bothered by glare (89.5%), halos (97.9%) and starbursts (92.6%). 94.7% of subjects did not need any distance correction, and 93.7% were “completely” or “mostly” satisfied with their distance vision without glasses. 93.7% of subjects would recommend the lens to their family and friends

Conclusions

The real-world data for the TECNIS PureSee EDOF IOL demonstrates high quality of vision, with excellent and highly satisfactory distance vision and low rates of photic phenomena comparable to what has been published for monofocal IOLs
