Purpose
To evaluate results in cataract eyes implanted with with ATLISA tri 839MP and with AT LISA tri 949MP. -Carl Zeiss Meditec AG Jena trifocal IOLs to get distance intermediate and near vision. We started implanting Zeiss trifocal IOLs in 2012. Docttor Piovella had Zeiss Trifocal IOLs implanted in his own eyes on July 3,4 2014 in Bochum by Burkhard Dick.
We had to demonstrate that hydrophilic IOLs material is comparable with Hydrophobic one. We have to demonstrate that toric correction is mandatory when present one diopter of corneal astigmatism. We evaluated the need of Evaporative Dry Eye treatments and cure to obtain high quality tear film to improve Biometry for precise Trifocal IOLs power New Surgical Center organization is mandatory
Setting
Every patients wish to correct refractive errors and presbyopia. Since 13 years we experienced Zeiss Trifocal IOLs implantation. We learned to correct one diopter astigmatism on corneal map.Hydrophilic lens had better quality of vision and are more flexible then Hydrophobic hard material.Adoting trifocal technology provides the opportunity to avoid monovision to provides the same VA in both eyes. That is a perfect goal for patients that experienced natural anisometropia
Methods
925 eyes were implanted with trifocal IOLs.435 eyes with ATLISA tri 839MP- and 490 eyes were implanted with AT LISA tri 949MP. Carl Zeiss Meditec AG Jena Mean Age 66.53 ±11.50. Biometry was performed with IOL Master 700 RK and astigmatism axis alignment performed with Callisto system. Blephex Lipiflow and ILux were applied in all patients preoperatively to treat Evaporative Dry Eye for precise Biometry results to detect safely the right IOLs Power.
Results
At 10 years monocular Trifocal IOLs results are UCDVA 20/22 ± 2.40 UCIVA 20/24 ± 3.13.UCNVA 20/27 ± 5.37,monocularToric Trifocal IOLs are UCDVA 20/20 ± 3.25 UCIVA 20/35 ± 4.75.UCNVA 20/29 ± 2.56 Binocular results(178 patients)are UCDVA was 20/20, intermediate 20/20 and near vision 20/24.97.
Conclusions
AT LISA tri and tri toric trifocal IOLs provide glass free vision after cataract surgery. Data show that it is possible to adopt them in the majority of patients.
Toric correction is mandatory to prìovide best quality of vision. Evaporative dry eye cure provides precise detection of the right IOLs power
