Methods

one thousand patient underwent catarct surgery divided into two groups

group a  500 patients with room temperature saline in phaco machine average 30C

group b 500 patients with cold saline 5C   in phaco machine

the patients evaluated pre and postoperatively by specular microscope for endothelial cell evalaution

Results

group b is statistically better than group a in count and hexagonality

Conclusions

cold saline is better than warm one in phacoemulsification
