Purpose
Purpose: To observe the clinical effect of eye drops of 0.1% olopatadine hydrochloride ( patanol) and 0.05% FK506 (tacrolimus) for treating severe vernal keratoconjunctivitis.
Setting
Setting: Department of Ophthalmology, Air Base Hospital, Saudi Arabia.
Methods
Methods: We observed the symptoms and signs of 31 cases of severe vernal keratoconjunctivitis before and after the treatment of 0.1% olopatadine hydrochloride and 0.05% FK506. We examined the blood routine and the biochemical functions for all patients regularly.
Results
Results: Following by 24months, all patients were much better than before in differently degree in 1 week. The papillae were decreased and almost disappeared gradually in 1 month.
The corneal lesions were cured rapidly in less than 2 weeks. 19 cases (61.3% ) recurred in 2weeks to 8 months after stoping the eye drops.
Conclusions
Conclusions:0.1% olopatadine hydrochloride and 0.05% of sever vernal keratoconjunctivitis, the patients are comfortable
and content with the treatment, side effects are very few.
