Experience Of Implantation Of Premium Intraocular Lenses During Cataract Phacoemulsification In Single Eyes According To The Kazakh Research Institute Of Eye Diseases

To evaluate the functions of a single or functionally single eye after phacoemulsification with implantation of premium intraocular lenses

Phacoemulsification with implantation of premium intraocular lenses in a single eye was performed in 11 patients undergoing treatment at the Kazakh Research Institute of Eye Diseases. The average age of patients was 62,1±8,2 years (from 45 to 70 years), 7 men, 4 women.

All patients were diagnosed with cataract in a single eye.Only 2 patients had concomitant pathology in a single eye-moderate hyperopia, suspected glaucoma. The diagnosis of the fellow eye is anophthalmos in 3 patients, post-traumatic subatrophy of the eyeball grade III in 4 patients,a cloudy corneal transplant in 1 patient, post-thrombotic retinopathy in 1 patient, high-grade refractive amblyopia in 1 patient and stage IV glaucoma in 1 patient.Phacoemulsification of cataracts was performed on the microsurgical system-Centurion Vision System using the Verion navigation module.The patients were implanted with premium IOLs:

TFN T00(PanOptix)4 patients

TFN Tх(PanOptix Toric)3 patients

ZFR OOV(Tecnis Synergy)2 patients

DFT 015(Vivity)2 patients

The maximum corrected visual acuity of the single eye before surgery was 0.3±0.38.Uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) at all distances after surgery was recorded after 7 days,1,3 months.UCVA 7 days after surgery in all patients for distance was 0.95±0.05,at medium distance 0.73±0.04,for near distance with Panoptix,Panoptix Toric,Tecnis Synergy 0.72±0.07,Vivity 0.55±0.07.UCVA after 1 and 3 months were:in all patients for distance-0.98±0.05,at medium distance 0.78±0.05.For near distance with IOL Panoptix,Panoptix Toric,Tecnis Synergy 0.75±0.05,with Vivity 0.55±0.07.The neuroadaptation period was 2-2.5 months.The results of the postoperative questionnaire revealed high patient satisfaction with vision at all distances without spectacle correction

To achieve a high quality of life for patients after phacoemulsification of cataracts in a single eye,it is possible to implant premium intraocular lenses with the correct combination of proper patient selection and IOL model selection.In the absence of concomitant pathology in a single eye,phacoemulsification of cataract with implantation of multifocal intraocular lenses and IOL with an extended focal depth is acceptable.

In the presence of concomitant diseases in a single eye (dry AMD,stage 1 glaucoma) phacoemulsification of cataract with implantation of an intraocular lens with an extended focal depth is preferable.In case of severe concomitant pathology implantation of premium intraocular lenses is inappropriate
