Purpose

To observe the early clinical efficacy and explore the clinical application value of EDoF technology in laser presbyopia surgery by using three different methods with monovision designs, as without of EDoF, with of EDoF in one eye, and EDoF in both eyes.

Setting

The 62 patients have be divided into three groups, aged 44 - 65 years , and with difficulty in near vision.  8 were emmetropic, and 42 with myopia and 12 patients with hyperopia .

Methods

The 62 patients have be divided into three groups, aged 44 - 65 years , and with difficulty in near vision.  8 were emmetropic, and 42 with myopia and 12 patients with hyperopia . All patients underwent corneal laser presbyopia correction surgery (LASIK). Among them, there were 9 cases of micro monovision group without the of EDoF in operation designs.18 patients were in the optimized monovision group, and near-vision eye with of EDoF . 35 patients were in the Presbyond group , that is, the design with EDoF in both eyes. The three groups, the anisometropia amounts in both eyes were 1.22±0.21D, 1.38±0.24D, and 1.50±0.17D respectively.

Results

Post-op 1D, the corneal flap displacement occurred in one patient. No surgical complications occurred in other patients. Post-op 1W, the binocular uncorrected distance, intermediate, and near visual acuities of the three groups of patients were improved to varying degrees compared with those before surgery, with the PRESBYOND group showing the best results. None of their eyes with loss of best corrected visual acuity occurred in each group. A questionnaire survey  Post-op 1M showed that the PRESBYOND group had the highest satisfaction, while the micro-monovision group had the lowest.

Conclusions

Depending on the different EDoF design , the three laser corneal presbyopia surgeries have different clinical efficacies. Among them, the PRESBYOND design appear the best correction efficacy and the highest patient satisfaction after surgery.
