Trifocal Iols Implantation After Refractive Surgery

To evaluate visual performances of trifocal IOLs AT LISA tri 839 MP and AT LISA tri toric 939MP IOLs (Carl Zeiss Meditec AG - Jena - Germany) in patient that experienced previous laser vision correction or refractive surgery..Patients that experienced refractive surgery to correct refractive defects ask for enhancement at the time of refractive cataract surgery.We have adopted specific formula for precise biometry to get postop emmetropia and presbyopia correction. Are included only eye with regular corneal map. We adopted toric trifocal IOLs to correct corneal astigmatism.All patients were applied Evaporative Dry Eye cure with BlePhex, LipiFlow and ILux treatments.

Precise Biometry exams and IOLs calculation formula were adopted.  

38 eyes of 22 patients mean age: 56.57 ± 8.76 years were included in this study. Preop SE was -0.91 ± 3,31 BCDVA 20/21.40 ± 3,18 Postop were measured: distance (5m) near (40cm) and intermediate (80 cm) VA, corneal topography, contrast sensitivity and defocus curve and quality of vision Follow-up examinations were performed day 1, 2, 7, 30, 90, 180,360  and yearly. Antibiotics eye drops fro ome week.Steroid eye drop were adopted for three weeks

Lubrificant for 2 months postop.. Consent form signed

We selected preoperatively patients with no pathologic cornea and effective visuala acuity. Multiple stable corneal map was required to be selected. Contact lenses were dismissed minimum for 2 months till wharpage not present at corneal map.Evaporative Dry Eye was treated in all the patients Phacoemulsification was applied after Zepto for capsulotomy.

Endothelial Cells Count was performed ay every consultation as well as AOCT Corneal Map and LipiView.

At five years BCDVA was 20/20,65 ± 2,51. SE was -0,20 ± 0,45. Residual astigmatism was 0,02 ± 0,42..

96 % of eyes after trifocal IOLs implantation achieved postop refractive results within ± 0.75 diopters

Despite different convinctions, Zeiss Hydrophilic Trifocal IOLs provided good visual performances in with patients that experienced laser vision correction decades ago.
