Purpose
To evaluate postoperative results in a range of visual acuity and quality of vision after implantation of Rayner hydrophilic, intraocular lens, model EMV spherical and toric in eyes with diagnosed high values of alpha and kappa angles.
Setting
Silesian Eye Treatment Centre
Methods
24 spherical and 23 toric lenses wre implanted in eyes because of diagnosed cataract or unwanted refractive error. All patients were preoperatively hyperopic and some eyes was diagnosed with amblyopia.
Angles alpha and kappa, a size of the pupil and HOAs generated by the cornea were a stable parameters of preoperative qualification criteria which determined e lens selection. Lenses ware removed using phacoemulsification procedure phacoaspirationprocedures. Intraocular lens was implanted into the capsula in all eyes.
Results
Although high values of angles alpha and kappa were diagnosed a visual acuity to far distances weren’t worse postoperatively as compared with preoperative results, gained with best correction. All patients achieved good vision to intermediate distances and some of them gained ability to see to the near distances without need for additional correction.
Conclusions
A Rayner, EMV intraocular lens can be recommended to the patients with high and media hyperopia concomitant to high values of angles alpha and kappa, diagnosed preoperatively.
