Purpose

To point out on the unclear reason of deterioration of visual acuity like also quality of vision, observed in the group of patients with diagnosed myopia and astigmatism

Setting

Silesian Eye Treatment Centre

Methods

36 eyes with diagnosed deterioration of visual acuity and quality were included into examined group. All patients have reported abnormal visual acuity and quality. An abnormally high values of HOA generated by the crystalline, healthy lookin lens, examined using iTrace device were diagnosed in all eyes included into examined group. No pathologies were diagnosed during eye examination instead of above.

Phacoemulsification with IOL implantation was made in every eye.

Results

An improvement ate the range of visual acuity and quality were observed in every eye. No one of patients gained normal visual acuity parameter to far distances, which can suggest congenital reason of lens pathology.

Conclusions

An examination of the HOA generated by the lens should be taken in all patients with diagnosed myopia and concomitant astigmatism and unclear reason of visual impairment.
