Purpose
The purpose of the study is to compare the visual outcomes, refractive outcomes and complication rates of the novel CM T Flex IOL (CT) for surgical aphakia with standard Scleral Fixated IOL (SF) and Iris Claw IOL (IC).
Setting
In aphakia, an IOL can be placed in the AC, as closed or open-loop ACIOLs, in iris as retro-iris-fixated IOLs and with sutures or sutureless (Glued) trans-SFIOL. .We present here in our experience with injector implantation of foldable CM T FLEX IOL for scleral fixation. It is made up of hydrophilic material which contains 26% water with a refractive index of 1.460. The optical diameter of CM T Flex IOL is 6.00 mm and overall diameter is 13.75 mm.
Methods
Results
In 3 groups, there was no difference in basic parameters. Time to secondary surgery was lesser and duration of surgery was shorter in Iris claw iol. (p<0.01). A hypermetropic refraction was seen and anterior chamber reaction, irregular pupil and lens tilt were more in Iris claw eyes (p<0.05). At 6m, haptic exposure was seen in 2 Scleral fixated IOL eyes (p<0.05).
Conclusions
the results of Novel CM Tflex intraocular lens were comparable to scleral fixated and iris claw intraocualr lens in relation to refractive outcomes and visual acuity. The haptic exposure is lesser in CM flex IOL when compared to the scleral fixated IOL.. Intraocular inflammation and pupil shape wise, the CM T flex iol is comparable to scleral fixated and infact better than iris claw lens.
