Billateral Correction Of Congenital Coloboma

Purpose

To show possibility for the treatment of congenital coloboma observed bilaterally in eyes with good visual acuity but poor quality of vision.

Setting

Silesian Eye Treatment Centre- a private medical institution

Report of case

A bilaterall surgical correction of abnormal shape of the pupil were did inder systemic anesthesia in 28 years old woman. During the surgery an author's modification of coloboma repair was used. A crystalline lens with saved  accomodative properties was intact during surgery. An incerasing of visual acuity and quality like also cosmetic improvement were achieved after the surgery. 

Conclusion/Take home message

The possibility of repair of the coloboma without need to remove crystalline lens gives a chance for visual improvement in young adults with saved accomodation.A bilaterall surgical correction of abnormal shape of the pupil were did inder systemic anesthesia in 28 years old woman.
