Purpose
To evaluate the clinical outcomes, safety and efficacy of PRESBYOND laser vision correction procedure in improving distance, intermediate and near vision in presbyopic patients.
Setting
Study was performed in Dr.Solomatin Eye Center private eye clinic, situated in Riga, Latvia
Methods
This was retrospective study. The cohort of presbyopic patients aged 40 and above underwent PRESBYOND corneal refractive procedure. The dominant eye was treated for emmetropia, while the non-dominant eye was treated for mild myopia (-0.75 to -1.5D). To create aspheric corneal aspheric profile The Carl Zeiss Meditec CRS-Master software was used for planing the surgery and MEL 90 excimer laser from Carl Zeiss Meditec was used to do the ablation. 41 patient with a mean age of 47 +/- 3.82 years was treated. Patients were observed for 3 months.
Results
A total of 82 eyes were treated (79 myopic and 3 hyperopic) all of the patients completed the study. After three months, the mean spherical equivalent (SE) in the dominant eye for distance was -0.05 ± 0.24 D, whereas the attempted and achieved SE in the near eye were -1.15 ± 0.13 and -1.25 ± 0.10 D. Stability was achieved after 1 months of follow-up. The uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) after surgery was -0.1 ± 0.04 logMAR, 0.20 ± 0.13 logMAR and -0.10 ± 0.06 logMAR.
Independance from spectacles was achieved by 100%
Conclusions
PRESBYOND treatment profile is effective for both myopic and hyperopic patients. Objective quality parameters show good visual outcomes. After three months the specific protocol of PRESBYOND correction resulted in satisfactory and stable visual outcome.
