Purpose
To report multicentric real-world spectacle independence and visual outcomes of the TECNIS PureSee IOL, a purely refractive Extended Depth of Focus (EDF) PCIOL.
Setting
Data from up to 20 investigational sites (10 in Europe and 10 in Asia-Pacific).
Methods
This is an ongoing, multicentre, observational, single-arm, single-visit study in patients bilaterally implanted with the TECNIS PureSee EDF IOL (a PARTIAL-RoF extended IOL). Post-operative refraction spherical equivalent (MRSE), patient-reported outcomes (spectacle independence, patient satisfaction and lens recommendation), best-corrected distance visual acuity (BCDVA), distance-corrected intermediate VA (DCIVA, 66 cm) and distance-corrected near VA (DCNVA, 40 cm) are reported.
Results
Data for 95 subjects from 9 sites were available at the time of abstract submission. Mean MRSE was 0.10 ± 0.41 D. Mean logMAR binocular BCDVA, DCIVA and DCNVA were -0.09 ± 0.08, 0.12 ± 0.10, and 0.24 ± 0.14, respectively. Binocularly, 91.5% of subjects achieved 0.2 logMAR or better DCIVA and 71.3% achieved 0.3 logMAR or better DCNVA. A high percentage of patients reported needing glasses “none” or “a little of the time” for distance (96.8%), intermediate (94.7%), near (58.9%) and overall vision (86.3%) and were “mostly” or “completely” satisfied with their distance (93.7%), intermediate (94.7%), near (62.1%) and overall vision (91.6%). 93.7% of subjects would recommend the lens to their family and friends.
Conclusions
The real-world data show that patients implanted with the TECNIS PureSee IOL have excellent distance, very good intermediate, and functional near vision and report high levels of overall spectacle independence and satisfaction.
