Purpose
To demonstrate the effect on refractive status caused by two types of surgery for open angle glaucoma (OAG), Deep Sclerectomy (DS) and PreserFlo Microshunt (PMS)
Setting
Methods
Results
A total of 21 eyes following DS and 20 eyes after PMS (mean age 35±89 years) with a diagnosis of mild to moderate OAG have been included so far (last update 29/02/24).
The Astigmatism only changed post operatively at the one month mark, follwoing which there was hardly any change in the astigmatism in the previously included patients at each other time point and no statistically significant difference between groups.
Conclusions
Both DS and PMS surgeries alter the refractive status of patients in the early post-operative stage but these changes resolve over the longer term (3 to 12 months) with no significant differences between DS and PMS surgeries.
