Purpose

The problem of increasing the efficiency of diagnosis and treatment of patients with dystrophic-degenerative diseases of the cornea remains an urgent issue of modern ophthalmology both in the world and in Ukraine, as it is one of the main causes of primary disability. Regeneration processes are activated, tissue oxygen absorption increases with the formation of adenosine triphosphate in mitochondria, the bioenergetic potential of cells and the speed of blood flow in tissues increases, transport through the vascular wall is activated, and vessels are intensively formed. Piler light affects tissue regeneration, as well as immune protection.

Setting

The purpose of the work is to study the pathophysiological mechanisms of action and the clinical effectiveness of poly- and monochromatic Pailer light in dystrophic-degenerative diseases of the cornea.

Methods

The study adapted and used an experimental model of a combined lesion of the lacrimal duct, meibomian glands, and damage to the cornea and conjunctiva with the development of inflammation of the anterior surface of the eye (ASE) in rats. 1 day after the induction of ASE, "Pailer-light" therapy was performed using the red filter of the "Bioptron" device. From a distance of 30 cm, "Pailer-light" therapy was performed for only the right eye for 3 minutes. Each animal received a course of treatment daily for 10 days. Experiments were conducted in a darkened room in the absence of direct natural and artificial lighting. During 10 days, a clinical assessment of transparency, neovascularization of the cornea was carried out using a point scale.

Results

Analysis of the results showed that this exposure and treatment protocol does not cause toxic reactions on the side of tear production, and is safe for further use and study. In the course of our research, a slowing down of the processes of epithelization and vascularization of the cornea with the use of "Pailer-light" therapy with red light, which has a positive anti-inflammatory effect, was noted. Is established the positive anti-inflammatory effect of red polarized light. The biological effect of light energy was realized through photochemical transformation in mitochondria through the interaction of cytochrome oxidase and affected energy processes inside the cell, proliferation, cell migration, neutralizing reactive oxygen compounds.

Conclusions

The obtained results indicate the possibility of further studying the properties of the effect of polarized light on biological processes inside cells, and to consider it as a promising direction in the development of alternative therapy in the treatment of patients with dystrophic-degenerative diseases of the front surface of the eye.
