Purpose
To discribe the clinical characteristics, treatments, and prognosis of severe infectious keratitis resistant to conventional therapy and treated by photo-activated chromophore for keratitis corneal cross-linking (PACK-CXL)
Setting
Observational study; All patients with severe resistant keratitis treated with Pack-CXL between 2009 and 2023 in our institution
Methods
All Eyes underwent PACK-CXL treatment with the Dresden modified protocol in addition to standard antimicrobial therapy.
Results
46 eyes was treated between 2009 and 2023. 60 % sucess after one procedure of PACK-CXL, 75 % sucess after the second procedure of PACK-CXL
Conclusions
As adjuvant therapy to standard antimicrobial treatment, PACK-CXL improves the outcomes in patients with severe treatment-resistant corneal keratitis.
