Purpose

To evaluate the optical, functional outcomes and patients satisfaction after Implantation of asymmetric multifocal toric Lentis Mplus toric(Teleon) in the eyes with refractive, anisometropic, amblyopia

Setting

Eye day clinic Cham, Janahof 2, 93413 Cham, Germany

Methods

In a retrospective case study from Mai 2010 until September 2023 we implanted after phacoemulsification through    2,2 mm incision, customized LENTIS Mplus-toric  in 32  eyes of 22 patients monocular , 5 patient binocular.

The preoperative best corrected visual acuity are in the range of 0,3-0.6, the mean BCVA 0,5. The preoperative refraction was in the range +2,5-+5,5the astigmatisms 1,75-5,25. We evaluated the postoperative uncorrected (UCVA), best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) for distance, distance corrected intermediate and near visual acuity. The follow up was three months after implantation. The quality of vision, glare, halos and the personal satisfaction of the patients was assessed with a validated questionnaire.

Results

All patients archived preoperatively the best corrected visual acuity, 8 (36%) patients gained 1 lines,6 patients gained 2 lines (27%),the mean UCVA for distance was 0,52; 45 %of the patients( 10 Patients)  were able to read without glasses the newspaper, 31% (7  patients) experienced glares and halos during driving in the night. 54% of the patient were completely satisfied, 27%satisfied,19 % not satisfied with the achieved results.

Conclusions

The multifocal Lentis M plus toric opens a new possibility of indication for the young patients, who do not use any optical correction  and other refractive method is contraindicated ,but specially for the patient in the presbyopic age,who are asking for refractive surgery .
