Purpose
Presbyopia correction with Extendet Depth of Focus lenses in a patient post Lasik.
Setting
Department of Ophthalmology, University of Heidelberg, Heidelberg, Germany.
Methods
A 64-year-old patient with bilateral condition after Lasik underwent cataract surgery with the assistance of Lensar femtosecond laser. Per the patient’s request to correct presbyopia and considering biometrical errors by condition post Lasik, the patient had implantation of wavefront-shaping AcrySof IQ Vivity intraocular lenses (from Alcon, Texas, US) with bilateral emmetropic target.
Results
The mean binocular visual acuty presented one week post operation was [logMar] UDVA/CDVA 0,14/0,04 (0,8p/1,0p Decimal), UIVA EDTRS 40 cm – 0,8, UNVA EDTRS 80cm – 1,0). Subjective refraction, uncorrected and corrected visual acuity (VA), binocular [logMar] for distance, binocular for intermediate, as well as positive dysphotopsia and the best corrected defocus curve 1, 3 and 6 months after surgery are still under evaluation.
Conclusions
AcrySof IQ Vivity IOL considered to be a good choice, able to provide presbyopic patients with condition post-Lasik a broad range of vision, both at distance and intermediate, while minimising positive dysphotopic phenomena such as glare, halos and starbursts.
