Purpose
Anterior capsulotomy is a very important step for successful cataract surgery. To have a repeatable, round, well centered rhexis is challenging for surgeons especially in cases of total cataract, intumescent cataract, and small pupils.
Setting
LV Prasad Eye Institute, India
Methods
We describe the surgical tips and tricks for successful capsulotomy in cataracts using Precision Pulse Capsulotomy (PPC) technology. We showcase the use of a PPC device in challenging cases of cataract surgery like small pupil and intumescent mature cataracts when using the phacoemulsification technique and IOL implantation. We also describe the various surprises faced during the learning phase and the ways to handle them.
Results
PPC device helps in navigating a successful round, centered, uniform capsulotomy in challenging cases of cataract surgery.
Conclusions
Zeptosecond PPC device is a useful tool in cataract surgery of intumescent cataracts, small pupil, anterior lenticonus. It has a short learning curve. Following a few simple surgical tips and tricks makes the procedure quite predictable and easy to master.
