Purpose

Following cataract surgery, patient scores are determined using questionnaires. Automated data transfer and score database tables facilitate the evaluation with the CLOQ (cataract and lens ophthalmic questionnaire).

Setting

AugenCentrum Rosenheim

Methods

Data from the validated CLOQ questionnaire can be used to determine patient scores via descriptive analysis. New results after surgery with monofocal, monofocal+, EDoF and trifocal IOLs are compared. Newly developed software enables automated data transfer from the paper-based questionnaires into the “questionnaire-collector” and from here to the “calc-score” e-database to evaluate and present the score data.

Results

260 questionnaires of 130 Patients with monofocal IOLs reconfirmed the validity of the patient questionnaire. 132 with monofocal + IOLs, 30 with EDoF-IOLs, and 45 with trifocal IOLs showed clear differences in spectacle independence and disturbance by dysphotopsia.

The automatic scanning transfer from the paper-based questionnaire showed a 98 % correct recognition. The Calc-Score e-database represents in an easy way the score results. Examples will be shown.

Conclusions

With this paper based CLOQ we do have a validated instrument to measure PROM for both QoL and QoV. Descript statistics figure out the difference between the IOL´s: less specticals for EDoF and trifocal IOL´s, more dysphtopsia with trifocal IOL´s, high degree of satisfaction post surgery for patients with all IOL´s. The new developed applications aids like the questionnaire-collector and the calc-score database reduce the burden for researchers.
