Purpose

To evaluate the impact of monofocal, trifocal and multifocal IOL on the visual fields

Setting

It was done in velemegna eye hospital, bidar

Methods

A cross-sectional comparison study was conducted on patients who underwent cataract surgery with various intraocular lens. Visual fields 24-2 was charted on Humphrey`s visual field analyser after 6 weeks of cataract surgery. Various data was collected and analysed using SPSS software

Results

A total of 44 eyes were operated by phacoemuslification with  monofocallens( CLAERON) , EDOF lens( VIVITY, EYEHANS) and Trifocal lens(PANOPTIX).23 patients were put EDOF lens, 12 patients opted for monofocallens and rest 10 were put trifocal lens.the mean age was 57.6 +/- 9.78 years.amongmales the mean age was 57.4+/-9.96 years and among females it was 59.7+/- 10.18 years. The mean of visual field index among monofocal lens was 98.5+/-6.35 and among EDOF lens was 92.18+/-7.41 and among trifocal lens was 94.5 +/- 6.51. There was statistical significant difference of visual field index in monofocal lens individuals compared to EDOF and trifocal lens

Conclusions

The visual field indices were significantly decreased in EDOF and trifocal lenses compared to monofocal lenses. These factors have to be considered before presenting lens options to the patients and especially to patients having glaucoma and various retinal disorders
