Purpose

To Compare two different intraocular lens implantation techniques: haptic flanged intrascleral and four- point flanged intrascleral fixations.

Setting

Retrospective cohort control study.

Methods

A retrospective analysis of 29 patients (29eyes) with Intraocular lens(IOL) fixation surgery. According to the surgical method, they were divided into 2 groups: haptic flanged intrascleral and four- point flanged intrascleral fixations. Surgical time in minutes, preoperative and postoperative parameters such as best corrected visual acuity(BCVA), intraocular pressure (IOP) were recorded. The tilt and decentration of IOL were measured after 1 moth of the surgery using CASIA2. Postoperative complications such as vitreous hemorrhage , corneal edema, elevated intraocular pressure, flange exposure, macular edema were recorded.

Postoperative complications such as vitreous hemorrhage , corneal edema, elevated intraocular pressure, flange exposure, macular edema were recorded.

Conclusions

Both surgical methods are minimally invasive and less complicated IOL fixed surgery. Suitable surgical methods can be selected based on the patient's eye condition .The IOL is more stable with four -point flange fixation .
