Purpose
Referring to the index scale of visual function (VF-14) developed and improved by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a questionnaire survey was conducted to obtain the postoperative satisfaction of the patients and to explore the application of defocus curves in LBV refractive surgery for old eyes.
Setting
A total of 50 patients, aged 40-50 years, who underwent LBV old Angle membrane refractive surgery were collected. They were divided into experimental group and control group according to whether the defocusing curve was applied in perioperative period.
Methods
They were divided into experimental group and control group according to whether the defocusing curve was applied or not. The control group was completed according to the routine examination, and the experimental group was instrumented to measure the defocus curves at 0 D, -1.00 D, -1.50 D, and -3.00 D for the different refractive errors of fully corrected, monocular vision design reserve, and 3 months postoperatively, respectively. Both groups rated the examination process and postoperative satisfaction using the improved index of visual function scale at 3 months postoperatively.
Results
At 3 months postoperatively, the experimental group was better than the control group, and the differences were all statistically significant. The degree of decrease in the distance to near curve from one eye to the other was positively correlated with age, in the defocus curve graphs of the experimental group with preoperative refractive error fully corrected. The difference in the area under the curve between the preoperative full correction and the simulated monovision designs was statistically significant from -1.50D to -3.00D.
Conclusions
The defocus curve has a good application in LBV refractive surgery for old eyes and plays a role in preoperative communication and postoperative outcome evaluation.
