Purpose
Evaluate effectiveness of micropulse transscleral cyclophotocoagulation in patients with refractory operated open-angle glaucoma with preserved visual functions.
Setting
Republic specialized scientific practical medical center of eye microsurgery in Uzbekistan (Tashkent)
Methods
Eighty eyes of 80 patients underwent MP-CPC with the Quantel Medical (Supra 810) laser in RSSPMCEM with following settings: 1700-2500 mW for 80-110 seconds for each hemisphere depending on stage and severity of each patient. Of these, 43 are men, 37 are women. Best corrected visual acuity in the first group was on average 0,63, in second – 0,37. The IOP in 1 group – 26,8 , in 2 – 30,6 mm.Hg. All patients underwent modern highly informative objective research methods according to international standards of diagnosing glaucoma. The study was carried out over 9 months : 3 day, 1 week, 1, 3, 6 and 9 months postoperatively.
Results
In early postoperative period average IOP reduced on 12,0 mm.Hg,however in 37% of patients the number of medications was discontinued. At 1 month average IOP reduction in first group was 15,9, in second – 17,8 and hypotensive regimen was discontinued in 60% of patients, mostly in patients from the first group. At 6 month there was an increasing trend of IOP:in 1 – 17,1, 2 – 19,5 and antihypertensive drops were re-prescribed in 35% of cases. At 9 month the number of medications was reduced in 55% of patients. In the early and late postoperative period, dynamics of visual functions remained at the preoperative period.According to ultrasound biomicroscopy , not a single case of postoperative atrophy of the structures of ciliary body was noted.
