Purpose

To investigate plasma assisted noninvasive surgery (PANIS) for punctal occlusion as a treatment for filamentary keratopathy.

Setting

A 69-year old female came to Vision health research center, Tehran, Iran in 2023. With obtaining consent form she underwent PANIS treatment.

Report of case

one eye of one patient (Right eye) diagnosed with corneal filaments. The patient is a 69 years old female with cataract surgery history. The surgeon treating her dry eye disease by punctal occlusion with plasma technology using white handpiece of PLEXR PLUS. One spot of plasma was applied for stricture of punctum with local anesthesia in office. With anterior segment optical coherence and slit lamp examination before and one month after procedure the stricture of punctum has been proven. The visual parameters has not changed and her uncorrected visual acuity remained no light perception (NLP).

Conclusion/Take home message

It seems that PANIS method is a safe and office-based method for treating signs and symptoms of dry eye disease.
