Video Summary

Case report of a phacolytic glaucoma. The surgery started with ropivacaíne sub tenon administration, a soft shell protection with ophthalmic viscosurgical device, followed by irrigation and aspiration of the cortical and pseudo-hypopyon deposit with the IA piece, with the assistance of a spatula. Four iris hooks were placed in order to obtain appropriate mydriasis, and the capsule was stained with trypan blue. Capsulorhexis was carefully initiated with the cystotome, given the phacodonesis, and continued with rhexis forceps. A careful viscodissection was performed. A limbal 9mm opening was made, and the Lewis loop was inserted. Extracapsular capsular extraction was performed in one step, the first stitches were placed to maintain the oculotonus, and a mono-focal one-piece intraocular lens was implanted in the capsular bag.
