Purpose

In this study, it was aimed to measure the preoperative keratometry values, anterior segment parameters and IOL power values with Sirius topography device (CSO, Italy) and lenstarLS 900 (Haag-Streit AG, Köeniz, Switzerland) in cataract eyes without any comorbidities and to evaluate the consistency of these values.

Setting

Methods

Patients with grade 2 and 3 cataracts who applied to Health Sciences University Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt EAH Eye Clinic and were planned for cataract surgery were included in the retrospective study. Forty cataract eyes of 40 patients were included in the study. All patients were scanned using a combined Scheimpflug Plasido disc-based tomography device (Sirius) and lenstar before cataract surgery. Keratometry values , anterior segment parameters and IOL power values  were recorded.

Results

It was determined that there was a statistically significant difference between K1lenstar -K1Sirius, k2lenstar-k2sirius, kmaklenstar -kmaxsirius, wtwlenstar - wtwsirius (p<0.05) and IOL power lenstariol-IOL power sirius (p<0.001). However, no significant difference was found between the variables ASTlenstar –ASTSirius, ACDlenstar -ACDSirius, ADlenstar -ADSirius and CCT lenstar – CCTSirius (p>0.05). Additionally, when Sirius and Lenstar IOL were compared in terms of power, Lenstar significantly underestimated IOL values compared to Sirius (p< 0.001).

Conclusion

A statistically significant difference was found between lenstar and sirius in terms of keratometric values, WTW distance and IOL power. In particular, it has been determined that IOL power is measured much more accurately with Sirius.
